Do you ever have those days when you are convinced that no one gets you?
I do. And they’ve been happening a lot more frequently.
But it’s okay. I do it to myself. I’m a nerd in the true sense of the word when it comes to food, fall and farms. I think this is why social media was invented. Way, way back in the day, there was someone sitting around who felt like no one got them. So they decided to find a way to surround themselves with people around the world who did.
That has to be factual, right? I’m sure it’s documented somewhere.
For example, just the other day I came across the largest, most gorgeous persimmon tree I’d ever seen. It was full of fruit and towered around me in every direction. It had to be years and years old. It was next to a store and when I checked out, I gushed to the cashier about how beautiful the tree was.
She looked at me like I was an alien.
Nope, didn’t get me.
Now, I could post that same picture on any of my social sites and I’d get comments like – so pretty, whoa – I’ve never seen a persimmon tree before, and yay fall!
If I had been in the presence of the folks I tend to pal around with at food events when I saw that tree, 0h my goodness, look out. We would have stared at it for hours and discussed every detail.
It’s such a comforting feeling to know that you are not a weirdo. To know that there are other people around – those you’ve met and those you haven’t – that are happy to discuss how a food tastes in more detail than “good”. Or those people who will quickly pull off on the side of the road to take sneaky pictures of nut trees because she knows few people have seen them and she wants to share. Well, that might just be me, but you get the idea.
It’s nice to know that I likely have some readers who will enjoy the pictures in this post as much as I do. So that’s why I share. That’s why I suffer through long stares at the farmers market, silent accusations that I have some ulterior motive for taking iPhone photos of pumpkins, and pausing for 5 minutes before I dig into my plate.
To share. If it makes me smile, hopefully it will you, too.
These are just a few October Snapshots that I hope you enjoy. Happy Fall!
Lovely snaps! We get you š It’s kind of like not appreciating the landmarks in your hometown that people come from all over to see.
Thanks, Priscilla! So true!
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful glimpses of your life and the bounty of fall. I haven’t gotten out of the house much lately so this is much needed beauty! I have a friend moving to Lodi to work in the wine industry there. We should meet there for a fun day of exploring and imbibing – I’m sure there is beer around there too for you, LOL. <3
Yes, Jane! That sounds great! And I wine comes in only a close second to beer. š I’d love to explore the wineries in Lodi!
